BARBARA | CHINATOWN

Vancouver's Michelin - Starred Culinary Gem

It was an honour to collaborate with one of Vancouver’s finest talents, Chef Patrick Hennessy who has earned his place among the city's elite restaurants with its coveted Michelin star.

Michelin Recognition

This prestigious accolade places Barbara among the top nine Michelin-starred restaurants in Vancouver, solidifying its position as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.

The Room

Barbara is an intimate, 17-seat restaurant, located at the edge of Vancouver’s Chinatown, serving chef-driven, seasonal plates. Working closely with our client, a chef with major talent, Ply developed a concept to complement his passion for creating delicious food.

Tasked with the puzzle of fitting a full kitchen and dining space into a compact 460 square foot floor plan, Ply developed an efficient layout with comfortable counter seating, for guests to settle in and watch the chef in action.

A palette of materials with warmth and texture serve as contrast to stainless steel of the open kitchen. Guests are enveloped by a graphic mural, a collaboration with artist Sarah Delaney, while enjoying impeccably crafted plates. Pink neon signage, a trace of the chef’s mom’s signature, provides a colourful punch and nod to where his journey into cooking began. All elements are pulled together for an inviting dining experience all while creating a space intrinsically connected to the client’s goals & story.
