shaketown BREWING
Shaketown Brewing is located in the Shipyards Brewery District of North Vancouver. Housed in an airy, timber-framed former industrial space, Shaketown was imagined as an anchor point for community connection.
Approached to develop the interior design, Ply developed a concept that complemented historic elements of the space and area with a decidedly contemporary aesthetic. Shaketown, a nickname given to the area as a former logging town back in 1895, is further described by tongue-in-cheek branding that tells an embellished history of the area.
Part height walls define the tasting room while providing subtle connection to the brewing functions and allowing visual space to existing timber structure. A long bar-height banquette utilizes timber with modern detailing and houses integral custom lighting. Brightly coloured graphics and stools populate the space as a link to the branding. Beer taps are housed in a slab of locally-sourced stone from Vancouver Island. Flexible seating zones accommodate groups of different sizes.
