ted talks | the future you
Ply was invited to participate in this incredible event as a designer for one of the many creative and inspiring pavilions to inhabit the Vancouver Convention Centre for TED Talks. The theme was the Future You and everything that entailed. Our task was to design a gift experience for the convention attendees and participants. After processing the project brief, we distilled three key elements the design had to achieve experientially to be successful. First was intimacy, people needed to be connected to the experience and the products they were introduced to. Second, way finding was paramount, each product segment had to be clearly defined, succinct and part of the whole. And last, but not least, custom furniture to create a more tailored experience. We felt that wood was a more tactile material over typical convention centre tables and chairs made of metal and plastic. The final result was a memorable gift experience, transparent, light and fluid.
